I was using Google to search for something entirely unrelated (“Jefferson County” “ibm mainframe”, if you must know), and came across an interesting PDF file: Do Nuclear Facilities Attract UFOs?
I’m posting it here just for general amusement; I don’t have any particularly strong opinions about UFOs. The claim made about a UFO reducing the radiation level at Chernobyl is interesting. I haven’t read the referenced book, but eyewitnesses are quoted in a 1999 Pravda article UFO Prevents Blast at Chernobyl Nuclear Plant. However, I’m skeptical that there is any documentation of an actual reduction in the radiation level as described in the report.
The article describes the methodology used to adjust for local population. However, they do not appear to have taken into account the possibility that nuclear facilities attract people likely to sight UFOs.
