OK, so it’s not an official studio release, just a DVD someone has assembled from video cassette recordings, but it was still great to see it again after all these years. I watched the pilot episode this evening. I’m not sure I’d seen the pilot previously, but I think I saw most of the regular episodes. Hard to believe that was more than a quarter century ago.
The pilot was funny though fairly predictable. It would have been better without the laugh track. Do they really think that the viewing audience is too dumb to know when to laugh?
I’m amazed that the studio hasn’t yet offered an official DVD. It wouldn’t be a number 1 hit, but Quark seems to have a respectable cult following, so I think they’d sell reasonably well. Certainly I’ve seen much worse junk on DVD.
I’ll have to make a copy for my friend Ficus.
where did you get this DVD of these shows? My fiance’ just told me tonight he’d love to see them again.

I loved Quark and have wanted a vid/dvd of this great show for ever. Come on Sony/Tristar/Columbia… please let me share this with my kids and grandkids!!!!
I purchased the unofficial DVDs from Cool Stuff.
Remember: “There are no good plants, there are no bad plants, there are just…plants.”
THE GALAXY, AD INFINITUM! (Siempre e Quark!)
By the way; you’re right, it does not need a laugh track (too distracting, and Space:1999 proved you can do an outer space comedy without a laugh track.) Is there some electronic gizmo that could remove the canned laughter from Quark or any other sound track? Shucks: even M*A*S*H omitted their laugh track towards the end.
