Reverse defenestration

Around 1992, I started using the term “reverse defenestration.” I no longer remember whether I’d heard anyone else use that term previously. Example usage: “I reverse defenestrated that PC, and now it is faster and more reliable.” Such an upgrade is most commonly from Windows to Linux or BSD.

reverse defenestration /rɪˈvÉœrs dÄ“-fÄ›n’Ä-strā’shÉ™n/, noun, the act of throwing Windows out of a computer.

Doesn’t that mean: install windows back on your computer (eeeks)?
‘Defenestration’ already means throwing windows out. If you
reverse that you’ll get it back…

No, defenestration means throwing things out of windows, so reverse defenestration is throwing windows out of things (such as computers).
