Suboptimal disk drive installation

When connecting the power cable to a SATA drive, the plastic piece to which the connector fingers are attached on the drive’s power connector broke off, leaving the fingers unsupported.  I didn’t think I was applying excessive force to the connector, so it’s possible that there was a molding void in it.

I subsequently attempted to install the drive in an enclosure which (like the drive) has a single-piece connector for both the SATA data and power.  On the first attempt, the fingers were mashed.  I straightened them out with forceps and a jeweler’s screwdriver and tried again, this time with success.  The drive still works, though I don’t expect that the power connection will be as reliable without the plastic backing applying pressure to the contacts.
