Two weeks ago today, I paid $12 to De Anza College to get a “rush” official transcript, then took that transcript to Mission College and paid a $5 fee for transcript evaluation, which takes two weeks (no rush service available).
Today I went back to Mission College, waited in line 25 minutes, requested my copy of the evaluation, waited a few more minutes, and finally was told that they can’t find it.
They gave me the business card of a Student Services Technician in the Admissions & Records office to call about it.
I need the De Anza course credit for Linear Algebra to show up as transfer credit on my Mission College transcript since it is required for the Associate of Arts in Mathematics degree. But more immediately, I want it to show up in my cumulative GPA when I have the transcript sent for my UIS transfer application. I’ve been working hard to improve my GPA. I don’t know how much consideration UIS will give the GPA, but their CS department only accepts 20 online students each semester, so I want to be sure that all of my recent good grades are reflected.
UIS starts evaluating applications for Spring 2007 on September 15, so I really need to get this resolved without having to wait two weeks again. Fortunately I do still have another sealed copy of the De Anza transcript which I can take to Mission.
Update:
I spoke to the Student Services Technician, and she had my transcript and said that it would be completed today.
Further update:
I went back over to the campus, and got in line again. The woman who looked for my transcript evaluation before noticed me waiting in line, and waved me over. She said that I’d already waited in line enough today, and that she’d get my evaluation right away. She also processed my request for official transcripts very quickly. I was worried earlier today, but things worked out fine, and the Mission College staff members were all very helpful.
