Worst movie I’ve seen in years

I strongly recommend against seeing “Ultraviolet“. It’s supposed to be a science fiction live action comic-book style vampire movie. They got the “comic” part right, though not intentionally. It’s like a bad mashup of The Matrix, Kill Bill, and Blade. I think it’s the first vampire movie I’ve seen in which no one actually gets bitten by a vampire; in fact, it was never made clear exactly why the humans were afraid of the “vampires” and were trying to exterminate them.
The few portions of the plot that made any sense at all were completely predictable. The attempts to make the audience sympathize with the characters were so superficial as to seem completely inane.

The only redeeming feature of the movie was that some of the fight sequences were choreographed well. But several of the fight scenes were so unbelievable that the director apparently couldn’t even come up with a way to show them on-screen in a believable manner, so they were either shown from a camera angle that obscured the action, or were off-screen.

The CGI was OK in some scenes, but much of the time was so obviously out of place as to jar the viewer out of whatever limited degree of suspension of disbelief he or she might otherwise have been able to achieve.

Even considering the unintended humor, I felt like the admission price I’d paid was a complete waste of money, and more annoyingly, that going to the movie was a waste of 88+ minutes of my life.
