The US government is attempting to block Creekstone Farms Premium Beef from testing all of its cattle for Mad Cow Disease (BSE), using the very same test that the USDA uses on only 1% of cattle, because other meatpackers are worried that consumers might actually show a preference for meat that has been tested.  A US District Court ruled that the government does not have legal authority to prohibit Creekstone Farms from conducting the tests, but the USDA is filling an appeal.

The USDA says that they fear false positives.  Wouldn’t it be terrible if some particular cow had a false positive, and you weren’t sold the meat from that cow?

    Of course the U.S. government doesn’t want the complete testing
    of beef.
    Just follow the money. Big cattle lobyist have most of the politicians
    in their back pockets.
    Remember the dairy farm that was forced to stop advertising the fact
    that their cows are steroid free.
