A few weeks ago in Sunnyvale, I was stopped at a traffic light on Lawrence Expressway, and slightly ahead of me in the next lane to the right was a small yellow car. It had a giant wind-up key sticking up out of the trunk, which was actually spinning, and the trunk was marked “Caution: Do not overwind”.
Unfortunately I did not have time to get a photo or record the license plate, nor have I seen the car again. It’s a neat hack, and I’d like to meet the person that created it.
Update, May 28:
Several people have pointed out to me that it was a Geo Metro that was actually featured in a brief article in Make magazine Volume 09, pp. 153-154. It was created by Sunny Armas and Paul LeDuc.
