I was working on some electronic project on my grandfather’s workbench, and using his HP 63xx DC power supply to power it. The top had been removed from the power supply, but I don’t know why.
Only after I was done using the power supply did I notice that the top had actually fallen inside the power supply, and had gotten extremely hot and somewhat warped when the power supply was in use. I found some pliers with insulated handles and pulled it out, took it outside, and set it down on the sidewalk.
The neighborhood kids took an immediate interest in it, and I had a hard time keeping them from touching it and burning themselves. The more I held them back and told them it would burn them, the harder they tried to get to it.
